SILK PAINTED BIRDS

While living in Berkeley, one of my favorite things to do was to take a ride to Thai Silk in Los Altos. There I would see beautiful, fun fabric, much of which I was known to purchase.

One day I received a phone call from someone there asking me if I would like to paint something on a piece of the sillk they carry so that they could use it as a backdrop at a trade show.

They sent me a piece of jacquard with "flying squares" and this is what I did with it. After their show I got to keep the painting.

Recently, the Western Massachusetts Jewish Ledger asked to use the image for it's "All Things Jewish" publication.
