Synagogue Art

My journey as a Jewish artist has its roots at URJ Camp Swig in northern California, where, in 1987, I made my first Torah cover with campers.

Since then, I have made dozens of Torah covers, ark curtains, and chuppot. I am now beginning to also design stained glass for sacred spaces.

Whatever your needs are, I am happy to work with you.

Creating new synagogue art -- be it a new cover for an old Torah, or a curtain for a newly designed Aron HaKodesh-- presents an exciting challenge for an artist.

How does one respect what already exists and create new imagery which works in the given site with the present community? What materials make sense to use? What are the colors that work best? How do we meet the collective aesthetic needs of the spiritual community?

Let's figure it out together!
