Tallitot
I think it's fair to say that I came into my artist identity when I started to make painted silk tallitot* in 1992.
At the time, most available ones were designed with blue or black stripes. The changing involvement of women in Jewish life has strongly influenced my work.
I have been blessed to be part of a renaissance in the world of Jewish ritual art.
One of my tallitot is part of the permanent collection at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem as a sample of contemporary ritual objects.
While I no longer carry a stock of tallitot, I will be happy to make one for you, or better yet, you come make one with me!
*tallitot: Hebrew plural of tallit. Jewish prayer shawls. Yiddish= tallesim
